Abandoned: Having been deserted or left.
Time is a very unpredictable entity. A moment passes and renders a thing useless.
The very theme of these photographs is the effect of time. The world is changing fast, at every blink of an eye. Things or people who are not able to cope up with these changes are left behind. They are no longer required. They have lost their charm. They are a mere entity.
What if these things are relooked at closely with a different lens? They definitely had something useful in them. Right now they are just there, having passed the test of time. But the rustic character they posses shouts out loud about the life they have gone through. Every single particle of them has a different story to tell. Every single particle is longing to be heard. All they need is an eye and a good ear.
These photographs belong to the old town of Diu. The area has many old and abandoned buildings which are on the verge of collapsing. The peculiar thing about the town was its affinity towards the blue doors. Almost all the houses had bright blue wooden doors. All of them were almost similar yet had something which made them stand out from each other.
The second photograph is also from the same region. A house was brought down and converted to debris. However the contractor did not bother to remove this shelf. Thus it was the only surviving element of the house which stood there. It certainly had something to say.
. The photographs above are from the old city of Rajkot.Mostly they are taken in and around the Darbargadh (Royal Palace) campus. The present condition of the campus is very poor; almost the whole building is on the verge of collapsing. A place so significant to a city definitely has a story to tell.
While moving on the streets of Goa, I went inside an apartment which was not in a good state. Outside on the main staircase which led to the terrace, some containers were arranged with a green background. The light coming from the window behind added drama to the still life.
This is my attempt to rejuvenate whats already dead. Its not always good to move forward. Once in a while we should pause and look back. Look into what has been used. Look into what is abandoned.
